Leicester City aren’t planning to have contract talks with Jamie Vardy anytime soon, according to the Leicester Mercury.

Earlier this morning, there had been reports suggesting that the Foxes would be giving the 31-year old a new contract, increasing his wages to £140,000-a-week.

However, the Leicester Mercury have now reported that the club isn’t planning to hold talks with Jamie Vardy just yet, and if they do so, it’ll only be after the summer.

The England international has two years on his current deal anyway, and neither him nor the club are too concerned about an extension at the moment.

The Leicester City main man has been in petrifying form this season, scoring 20 goals in 38 games across all competitions (17 in the Premier League), of which, ten have come in the last 13 appearances alone.

Earlier this season, the former Fleetwood Town striker also became the first player in Premier League history to score against each of the top six in one season, further showcasing that he isn’t just a good player, but a world-class player who knows how to turn up on the big occasion.

Jamie Vardy will hope for Gareth Southgate to have taken note of that with the FIFA World Cup now drawing closer. The Leicester City forward recently featured for England against Italy, and as he’d have liked, scored a goal, too.

He has made 21 appearances for the Three Lions so far, scoring seven times in the process against Germany, Netherlands, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Wales and Lithuania. Big game player.
