Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is in danger of missing the World Cup after suffering a hamstring injury in the 5-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

The 21-year old barely made it to the touchline after being forced to come off, and City’s worst fears were later realised as it was confirmed that he has a hamstring injury.

Not only does that hurt Leicester City, but it threatens to cause more damage to Wilfred Ndidi, who was bracing himself to make a big statement on the biggest stage in football – the FIFA World Cup.

Claude Puel, however, is still hopeful that the Nigeria international can recover on time to at least make it to the flight to the Russia. Speaking after his side’s five-star trouncing at Selhurst Park, he said:

"“I hope it is not a serious injury for Ndidi and I hope he can play in the World Cup.“All the scenarios today were bad for us.“We will see (if he will make the World Cup). It is a hamstring injury. I hope it is not serious of course because it is an important moment for him.”"

Claude Puel’s only option in the midfield among the first team regulars is Adrien Silva – and even he isn’t a regular starter – with the other two being the young academy duo of Hamza Choudhury and Harvey Barnes.

While the two are extremely talented and will see it as a chance to prove themselves, it’s hard to believe that they might be able to do much against Arsenal (H), West Ham United (H) and Tottenham Hotspur (A).

Judging on current form, Leicester may as well lose all of those three games, which may even mean that they fall out of the top ten from a point where they may have finished seventh in the Premier League. At the moment, even ninth doesn’t look realistic enough.
