Former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri open to a Premier League return
Former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri is open to a Premier League return, having left FC Nantes by mutual consent.
The Italian was sacked by Leicester after a poor second season at the King Power Stadium, but he was soon appointed by FC Nantes in June 2017.
Ranieri started off well with the Ligue 1 side as they sat third after the first ten games of the season; however, instead of improving to prepare for the challenges that awaited, Nantes got worse as the campaign progressed, eventually ending up at ninth with 52 points.
But that’s not what brought about the end for the ex-City boss. It was when he thought that missing FC Nantes’ 75th anniversary celebrations was a wise idea that he got himself into trouble with club president Waldemar Kita.
Inevitably, he was the ultimate loser in this battle, and his time in France was therefore cut short. Now the 66-year old is thinking of a return to management, and he’s not afraid of testing himself in the Premier League again.
Speaking of his next possible destination, he said:
"“Why not? I don’t know now, but one day I’d like to come back to England.“I am waiting [for offers].“I have some good situations but I’m waiting to find the right solution.”"
One would think that Claudio Ranieri won’t be short of options this summer. His market value saw an unprecedented rise when he won the Premier League with Leicester City against all the odds, and since then, he has always been talked about as a title winner, not a mere Tinkerman.

It would be odd to see him manage another English team now that he’s a Leicester hero, but that’s what football is. Dilly ding, dilly dong.
