Leicester City forward George Thomas could be loaned out to Birmingham City next season, according to Birmingham Live.

The 21-year old hasn’t yet been able to make an appearance for the first team despite thrice being named in the squad (against Liverpool, West Ham United and Arsenal) and could be sent elsewhere to get more playing time under his belt.

With Garry Monk and Leicester City both pondering a season-long move for Thomas, there is a real possibility that the deal could actually happen.

The decision to send him to Birmingham City could prove to be vital for his development, with Thomas clearly being some way off the level where he should be to play for Claude Puel’s side.

Having arrived last season, the Welshman had a decent campaign for the Leicester City U-23s. In 23 appearances in all competitions, he scored seven goals and assisted three, but there are a few areas where he needs to work to be able to get that tally up.

He also made his Wales debut last month in the 0-0 draw against Mexico at the Rose Bowl, coming on at the 64th minute for Ryan Giggs’ side and instantly impressing. After the game, the former Manchester United player said:

"“It’s always difficult as an international manager to know what your best side is because of players who are playing, players who are in good form and also we have a group of players who were amazing a few years ago at the Euros.“But what I wanted to do was bring the quality just underneath that, which brings the quality up with the established players with younger players pushing for their places. That’s what I want.“I’ve seen that this week. Brookes coming on and showing a lot of skill, Roberts, Mepham, Lockyer, George Thomas coming on.“They were all magnificent and that’s what I want.”"

There are a lot of fans out there who would like to see George Thomas be a part of Leicester City like some of the others who have broken through, but seeing where he currently is, it’d be good for him to spend a season in the Championship under Garry Monk.
