Hamza Choudhury is hoping for a big season with Leicester City, having made his debut for the senior team last season.

The 20-year old made nine appearances in 2017/18, starting in four of them, as the Foxes tried to cope with injuries to Vicente Iborra, Wilfred Ndidi and Matty James.

The next season now approaching fast, Leicester City are expected to have all of their midfielders available, namely Adrien Silva, Andy King (back from loan), Papy Mendy (back from loan),  Daniel Amartey, and the aforementioned trio of Iborra, Ndidi and James as well.

With so many names competing for three midfield spots, it would be very tough for Choudhury to make it into the XI, but he is ready to put in a shift during the pre-season. Speaking to the Leicester Mercury, he said:

"“I am hoping this will be a big season for me and I am looking forward to it.“I want to get started, put the hard work in and hopefully playing more games.“I have to catch the manager’s eye. I have to work hard enough to show I am fit and strong enough to play in the Premier League.“There is so much opportunity for the young boys in pre-season and we all look forward to it, knowing we have to perform well and work hard through the first few weeks of pre-season.“When it comes to the season you have to keep that hard work going throughout the entire season.“There was quite a few of us involved, I played with Harvey Barnes and Ben Chilwell, so I think there is a great pathway for young players at the club.”"

Hamza Choudhury also approved of the arrivals of Ricardo Pereira, Jonny Evans and James Maddison at Leicester City.

"“The signings look really good,” he said.“Ricardo looks a really good signing and hopefully he will settle quickly. I know James from the England ranks. He had a really good season with Norwich in the Championship last season.“Jonny Evans has great experience and will add quality to the side.”"

How long for will Choudhury be able to maintain such a positive attitude is something worth keeping an eye on. Like the other midfielders, he would want regular playing time as well, and we know how hard can that be for a manager.

There are no second thoughts about the Leicester City youngster’s talent, but it must be pointed out that he may have not made his debut at all had Puel not faced an injury crisis.

With the number of options he has at his disposal now, Hamza Choudhury may be left waiting for a few injuries before he plays.
