Leicester City target Jack Grealish is keen on a move to Tottenham Hotspur, reports Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas.

The Foxes have reportedly held an interest in the 22-year old for some time, but it appears that they might not be able to sign the Aston Villa midfielder.

Although Spurs are yet to make any contact regarding a potential deal, the player’s own preference may mean that he’s ready to wait, with the North Londoners equally as interested in signing him as well.

Leicester City, though they’ve been heavily linked with Jack Grealish, have never really looked like leading the race for him. There has been no formal approach from the club, possibly because of the £40 million asking price.

Seeing as Aston Villa won’t sell the young Englishman for anything less than that under any circumstances, this is a signing that now seems more possible than probable.

Also, with most of Claude Puel’s midfield options now fit and ready to go again next season, he may decide against buying another midfielder anyway. Apart from the new signing James Maddison, the Frenchman has Wilfred Ndidi, Hamza Choudhury, Harvey Barnes, Daniel Amartey, Nampalys Mendy, Andy King, Matty James, Vicente Iborra and Adrien Silva to count upon. Unless he offloads at least two or three of them, it’s unlikely that he’d go into the market for another midfielder.

Puel would be more concerned about replacing Riyad Mahrez for now, who is set to sign for Manchester City very soon. Replacing him would be a challenge, but £60 million should prove more than enough to find someone who is half-decent.
