Tottenham Hotspur are the bookies’ favourites to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City.

The centre-back has probably been England’s best player at the FIFA World Cup, dropping a lot of jaws with his world-class displays.

And now BetStar think that he might be on his way out, with a lot of top clubs reportedly ready to get him onboard. Leading the race, however, are Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking to StarSport, Director of Trading (BetStar) Ian Marmion said:

"“Harry Maguire has emerged as England’s unlikely World Cup hero following his impressive defensive displays for the Three Lions throughout the tournament and a number of top clubs are already queuing up to clinch the defender’s services this summer.“Tottenham have emerged as the clear favourites at 5/2 to swipe the centre-back from Leicester City’s clutches this summer as a potential successor for wantaway Toby Alderweireld, whilst Manchester United are second in the running at 8/1 to bring Maguire to Old Trafford.“Liverpool are priced at 10/1 to sign the 25-year-old as a defensive partner for Virgil Van Djik, while Manchester City and Chelsea both trail behind at 16/1 to become the former Hull defender’s next club.”"

Harry Maguire really has taken the footballing world by storm with his performances at the World Cup. He wasn’t even guaranteed a starting place in Gareth Southgate’s side, but he took his chance well against Tunisia, and since then, he has only got better – or so they say.

To be fair to Maguire, he hasn’t got better. He is only doing what he has been at Leicester City for a season, and what he did for Hull City and Sheffield United. Difference now is that more people are noticing his contributions, hence the interest from the big six.

The Foxes will now have some work to do as far as keeping the 25-year old is concerned. If England do win the World Cup, that will make it even harder for Leicester to keep him, but they’ve got to weather the storm the same way they did to keep hold of Riyad Mahrez in the last summer.

Losing Harry Maguire now would be a body blow, and one that Leicester City can’t afford at all.
