Leicester City are in negotiations with Juventus’ Stefano Sturaro, according to Italian journalist Paolo Bargiggia.

Gianluca Di Marzio earlier reported that City had bid £11 million for the midfielder; however, the Serie A club were ready to play the waiting game to be able to get close to £20 million for the 25-year old.

Signed from Genoa all the way back in 2014, Stefano Sturaro has never quite been able to nail down a spot in Max Allegri’s Juventus, managing a mere 90 appearances over the course of four seasons. Just 19 of those came in 2017/18 (11 starts).

He has also featured four times for Italy, appearing thrice at the UEFA European Championship in 2016, but the lack of playing time at the Allianz Stadium has cost him his chance for the national side as well.

Although Juventus are in no real hurry to offload Sturaro with three years still remaining on his contract, he would feel that it’s the right time to leave the bench in Turin and step on to the field in Leicester.

There being no real interest from any other club at the moment either, the former Genoa midfielder might prove to be an easy target to land for Leicester City. But if £20 million is indeed what they are paying for him, then it may not go down as the best piece of business.

For a little more than £20 million, Claude Puel can comfortably get someone with more playing time and quality under his belt. Were he to go on and sign Stefano Sturaro, there won’t be too many happy faces.
