Leicester City midfielder Vicente Iborra has reportedly arrived in Spain to finalise a loan move to Villareal, according to Super Deporte.

The 30-year old is understood to have been given permission by the club this afternoon, following which, he seems to have eagerly jumped into the plane to fly back home and get things done as quickly as is possible.

While the transfer has been reported to be as good as done, Leicester, being stubborn negotiators as always, are doing their best to not let the player leave for free.

They either want a permanent move, or perhaps the prospect of making it permanent come summer – which would actually make it a good deal.

Iborra has never really been able to find a permanent place in Claude Puel’s preferred XI, mainly because he likes his team young – Wes Morgan and Kasper Schmeichel being an exception to that, of course.

He played a fair few games in his first season at the club – and under Puel – starting 14 Premier Leagues for the Frenchman. This season, however, he has started just six games, with three of those starts coming in the Carabao Cup.

A move away is the best option for Iborra and Leicester. At 30, he has little chance of being able to adapt to the fast-paced nature of football in England, whereas in Spain, he’d be able to play every week without any problem because of the difference in intensity.

It has been a pleasure while he has been here, though. He has been utterly professional and tried to give his best whenever and wherever called upon. You never know if he could help Villareal win the UEFA Europa League!
