Loan deal: Leicester City forward leaves King Power Stadium for now
Fousseni Diabate has departed Leicester City football club on loan to Sivasspor, after failing to make the Premier League grade with the East Midlands team.
Something almost indescribable needs replacing at Leicester City. ‘It’ came mainly, or abundantly, from the wing area. Maybe the club sold someone over the summer. To be fair you all know to whom the reference is for. Not to mention it is obviously extremely difficult to replicate the mastery of a PFA Player of the Year and most expensive ever African player.
However, Leicester struggle to make that impact from wide a telling part of their game plan execution now. Marc Albrighton is really carrying the weight on this one. Even then he can only do so much; especially when removed from his signature position and moved to right-back.
Others like Demarai Gray have popped up with the odd decent display and occasional important goal – in fairness the 22-year-old’s finish at Cardiff City will go down in history as one of the most significant in Leicester City history. Lifting spirits and gaining vital points in the process, at a time of immense heartache and devastation under tremendous pressure and strain.

Apart from the struggling Rachid Ghezzal, there is another ‘once promising’ fresh Fox wingman floundering in efforts to cement his place in the side. Fousseni Diabate has been called the most skilful in training by certain accomplished players at Belvoir Drive. Yet he cannot find a regular place in manager Claude Puel‘s plans.
Diabate has the pace and skill-set, but possibly not the mental and physical toughness to make it in the top-flight league. With only two goals in 19 appearances in all competitions from his almost exact year at the club, he has not really had the opportunities. Will this outgoing loan make way for an incoming Harvey Barnes recall?
When an opportunity arises, the Mali Youth international does not quite prove himself worthy of a start. Memories of his two moments of greatness in on debut at Peterborough United in the FA Cup, are distant.
Go to lcfc.com for more details on the 23-year-old’s switch to Turkish outfit Sivasspor. Let’s hope it is a successful venture for all concerned, and Diabate can return to the King Power Stadium revitalised; and most importantly – ready to notch up some goals!
