‘Brilliant’ – James Maddison lauds the arrival of Youri Tielemans at Leicester City
James Maddison believes the arrival of Youri Tielemans’ quality at Leicester City will enhance the squad further towards fulfilling ambition.
Signing Youri Tielemans on a permanent basis is the sort of thing Leicester City fans will need to be informed of in the summer to know the club mean business about European qualification.
In fact the immense and immediate influx of calibre as well as class the Belgian provided on the ball against Tottenham Hotspur, was stunning.
Obviously it’s been said that the Foxes will struggle severely to attain Tielemans’ services full-time, but we can dream. Not since Esteban Cambiasso has one player conducted so elegantly and explosively simultaneously in City’s midfield.
Don’t think the Monaco man is there to cover his colleague’s forward running – on many occasions Tielemans overtook ‘Madders’ during attacks, in anticipation by way of a Frank Lampard-esque move into the box. Yet they will work together, manipulating matches to their favour through the middle.

Leicester City’s James Maddison speaks out on Youri Tielemans’ quality for the club
In this week’s Leicester Mercury was a quote on the impact of the 21-year-old loan signing at the club from his teammate James Maddison:
"“It is brilliant. We want as much quality in the club as possible. That only is a positive thing for me and all of the other players.“When you see quality coming in, whether it is in your position or not, you want the team to do as well as we can, and at the end of the season we want to be in the highest possible position we can be and if signing players like that is going to help then I am all for it.“We all know the quality he has and his record speaks for itself. He is 21 but he has played a hell of a lot of games. He is a real talent so I am looking forward to playing with him.”"
The Blue Army will surely echo the feelings of the 22-year-old in wanting to see the duo together, and performing as wonderfully as they can. Completing one another perfectly, while directing Leicester City’s play forward with intricate passing.
Before Leicester’s consecutive defeats against top-six opposition recently in Manchester United and Spurs, the No.10 commented on the current atmosphere at the East Midlands club. Stating, despite observers and reports suggesting all is not well in the squad, the Foxes roster is a happy one.
In addition the playmaker also opined that the team are extremely emboldened from wins versus other elite opponents – Chelsea and Manchester City particularly – and the impressive draw at Anfield with Liverpool. Not to mention the much improved displays against first-class sides when Leicester did not get a positive result.
Crystal Palace come to the King Power Stadium in the next round of Premier League fixtures, Foxes manager Claude Puel needs a win; regardless of an overhaul and a tremendously difficult campaign.
