Jamie Vardy is enjoying playing under Brendan Rodgers
Jamie Vardy is back to scoring ways at Leicester City. He believes Brendan Rodgers’ high-pressure style helped to continue his scoring run.
Jamie Vardy has netted five times in five matches. Which is quite a u-turn after a period of misfiring and a loss of his usual clinical nature, seeing him score once in seven.
Following the win over Fulham, and another brace or goals, Vardy spoke to Leicester’s media department about training, game plans and his scoring run:
"“We had a proper full week of the new manager’s training and I think that showed with what we put in out there.“He wants it at a high-tempo with a quick press, trying to win the ball back as quick as possible, and if you win it high up you’re going to get lots of chances.“It has definitely benefited me but we all know there is a lot more hard work to come and that starts when we get back on the training field and we’re looking forward to next week.“We knew Fulham were going to cause us problems, but, like I said, it’s new to us, what we have been working on. I think for the majority of the game, we got the game plan spot on to a T.“But we knew Fulham were going to have bits of possession and, like I say, they got a goal back, but we went on and nicked it at the end.”Via lcfc.com"
It was clear that recently sacked manager of the Foxes Claude Puel and Jamie Vardy didn’t see eye to eye in footballing terms, at the very least. National media claimed there was a rift between the two.
With Vardy himself admitting to Sky Sports that Puel’s overcomplicated passing system didn’t suit his style. Consequently this latest assertion of compatibility from the former England international is extremely encouraging for the East Midlands club and their faithful.
If the striker thinks there’ll be an increased amount of chances because of the high-press, along with his improved confidence of late, then us Foxes are content. Not to mention the relatively easier succession of fixtures, which points to a strong run in for Rodgers’ squad.

This season Vardy hasn’t been quite up to his usual form, he obviously believes that’s down to the Frenchman. Yet some may argue that Leicester City’s No.9 has lost a yard or two of acceleration, or general pace. He is now of course 32-years-old. However, he’s still managed 16 goal involvements in all competitions this campaign.
Burnley is the next Premier League destination for the King Power side. Sean Dyche’s Clarets are a shocking 17th in the division, which is particularly disappointing for them due to qualifying for European competition last term.
