During his pre-Bournemouth press conference Brendan Rodgers gave details on multiple items of Leicester City business. Foxes of Leicester share the news stories with our analysis.

Welcome to the usual two-days-before a Premier League match Brendan Rodgers and Leicester City press conference roundup. That’s quite a mouthful of a sentence when you say it back to yourself!

Anyway, the Foxes entertain Bournemouth on Saturday after the international hiatus. To he fair, the national football breaks aren’t as torturous as in recent times: for one, things are looking up for Leicester following the replacement of Claude Puel’s dreary play for world-class boss Brendan Rodgers. Secondly is the fact that – if you’re English – Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions have vastly improved.

A seventh place top-flight finish is actually achievable in reality, despite Watford as well as the Cherries being very good sides. Not to mention the most impressive and deserving of all: the Foxes’ Midlands rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

If Wolves lose to Burnley this weekend and City beat Bournemouth, the East Midlands club could become ‘best of the rest’ as of now. Though the aforementioned teams are all still in the running. City’s climb depends on permutations elsewhere too.

However, before the next clash Rodgers gave an interview on the state of the team amongst some of the usual transfer rumour deflections:

"On beloved late Leicester City chairman Khun Vichai:“It was a very emotional time. But also a very inspirational time. The service that we went to, it made you understand even more.”On Harry Maguire’s transfer links:“There’s nothing to add on that. Harry is very much a Leicester City player, a fantastic player who signed a new contract last year.”Misfiring Kelechi Iheanacho:“He has shown an appetite to learn. We have a culture where people want to come in and learn, and I feel he’s bought into that.“It’s difficult for him, he’s competing with one of the best strikers in the league, and unless the system changes, it’s difficult to see how that’s going to change.”On internationals:“Thankfully, they have all come back fit and well.”On Wes Morgan’s role:“If he’s ready I’ll start him, or if not he will come off the bench and he will be ready when called upon.”On keeping star players:“the club will do its very best [to keep them].”Read more at Leicester Mercury"

Some fascinating stuff to digest there. Interestingly Rodgers alludes to Caglar Soyuncu, stay with us: whilst mentioning captain Morgan’s capacity for the team as predominantly a substitute, the Northern Irishman in charge may be giving impetus to the Turkish defender. Will he come into the side in Harry Maguire’s absence? We will find out at 2pm GMT, Saturday.
