Report: Leicester City to target Premier League defender if star leaves
If Leicester City star defender Harry Maguire leaves King Power Stadium, a highly rated England international defender is reportedly the replacement.
Leicester City vow to shed their selling club moniker, as the club’s ambitions are now lofty. Qualifying for Europe – when new manager Brendan Rodgers has embedded himself in at King Power Stadium after a solid preseason – and, stunningly, according to the boss, breaking into the Premier League’s top six teams.
It would have been thought as fanciful for a club the size of the East Midlands outfit to oust a big six side prior to 2016; for some even after that point it’s fairly unlikely. However, Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s vision is being honoured by his son and now owner, Top, and only pursuing the greatest domestic and European honours will do.
Therefore selling star players such as Harry Maguire, Ben Chilwell and James Maddison is technically impracticable. Yet if an astronomical or ridiculous offer comes in, it will most probably be accepted. With regards to reinvestment and the pricey training facility under construction, it seems justifiable.
A figure of £90 million has been touted by The Sun as a fee that will see Manchester City secure England international Maguire:
"“But with the Foxes reluctant to sell Maguire, a fee of £90m might be needed to persuade them to sell the ace they landed from Hull for £17m two years ago.It is understood Leicester see Burnley’s James Tarkowski as a potential replacement if they cannot hold on to Maguire.”Via The Sun"

In addition, the outlet states that Leicester City are targeting James Tarkowski, if, and that is a very significant and speculative if, the former Sheffield United defensive man leaves Filbert Way.
The Citizens are also said to be interested in the Burnley defender as an alternative to the Fox. Tarkowski is a full cap Three Lion under Gareth Southgate, adding to his already known premiership quality. Pep Guardiola naturally wants comfortable ball players for his exquisite side, both suit the style. They also fit the homegrown English quota necessary to be filled by clubs. A nervy but promising transfer window ahead!
