Revealed: The amount Leicester City earned from Premier League, televised rights
Leicester City managed to turn a tempestuous 2018/19 Premier League season into a profitable one – both on and off the field. These are the amounts pocketed by the club.
Oh what a difference six months makes. For Leicester City, that sentiment has been piercingly true in a campaign they’ll equally want to bid farewell to. Because the squad and faithful have simultaneously also been boosted. Firstly losing ‘The Boss’ Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha could have meant a lower finish and a lesser, or severely disturbed, effort. This was not the case.
Immediately after the distressing event of October 27, the Foxes staff and players were strong; showing a bond that is unbroken in solidarity. In fact the brotherhood was strengthened.
Despite the squad not gelling with then manager Claude Puel – whom handled himself and team affairs with decorum throughout the tragedy – they found an immediate lift when new gaffer, the highly rated Brendan Rodgers, was appointed. Mood, spirits and expectation instantly raising like the reaction of a coke bottle with a mint in the top.
Hopefully for the Blue Army the outpouring on Filbert Way will gush as trophies and European tours. Certainly this Premier League campaign has seen some bonuses – as the club readies its financial report. The figures are broken down by Leicester Mercury:
"“The official figures for this season are set to be announced in the coming days, but the Foxes are set to earn £23.1m in prize money with a reduced equal share of £79.4m.“However, having had three more games broadcast this season (15), they are predicted to receive £17.9m in TV fees, taking their total Premier League earnings up to a mouth-watering £120.4m.“That means they are set to earn £2.2m more than last season, despite finishing in the same position and receiving slightly less prize money and equal share allocation.”"
While this article tells us everything we need to know, the club are yet to announce the total earnings. Check back with Foxes of Leicester over the next few days for that figure. Although it seems rather strange that Leicester will take away slightly less for a season in which they positioned a place higher than the previous term.

FoL recently speculated that the Foxes will complete a break into the top six next season, or at least compete for it! Arsenal seem to be going backwards again. Until they overhaul an enormous part of their roster, they are backpedaling. Manchester United are in entirely the same situation; neither clubs arguably even have the correct person at the helm for improvement. Chelsea are also a relative mess.
2019/20 is Leicester City’s chance to establish themselves, not just as premiership mainstays, but as serious contenders for Champions League football – now is the time!
