Apparently Harry Maguire has put in a transfer request at Leicester City, amid reports of bids from Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal.

Harry Maguire requesting a transfer is something no fox wants to see, but according to the some reports that’s exactly what’s happened. If the rumour is true, it’ll be sad to see the Foxes’ best centre-back leave.

Although the experienced Jonny Evans remains, along with Wes Morgan when needed. Not to mention the rising talents of Caglar Soyuncu and Filip Benkovic to develop. Additionally there should be an incoming Premier League big six centre-half as part of any deal, which may still exceed £65 million.

With regards to Maguire’s future, The Sun says:

"HARRY MAGUIRE has told Leicester he wants to leave the club. The Manchester City and Manchester United target has now made it clear that his future now lies elsewhere this summer.United have matched City’s offer of £70million for the England international. But Leicester will only do business at £85m.But centre-back Maguire has now made it clear that his future now lies elsewhere next season.Manchester City have also indicated that they would be willing to go to £70m after offering £65m plus £5m add-ons before their rivals’  bid.And Arsenal have also made an inquiry for the central defender but have made it clear they can only go to £50m for a player who cost £17m from Hull two years ago.Leicester were confident at the end of last season that Maguire, 26, who signed a new five-year deal last September, would stay for one more campaign. But with City and United both flexing their financial muscles, Maguire is understood to be keen to play European football as soon as possible — and prefers a move to City."

Obviously participating in Champions League football is a huge draw for any player; only one of United, the Citizens or the Gunners can offer it. Though there is still Europa League games available through a move to Old Trafford as well as at Emirates Stadium.

At this stage it is difficult to predict whether the Sheffield-born defender will leave King Power Stadium, however if Foxes of Leicester had to make a prediction: it’s probably 60/40 in favour of him leaving.

FoL also consider a deal with the Red Devils or City more likely than the Gunners. Arsenal’s supposed bid of £50m is more derisory than their offer of £40m to Crystal Palace for Wilfried Zaha. The latter bid is labelled as ’embarrassing’.

More from Foxes of Leicester

Accepting £85m including trade should be acceptable to the Foxes hierarchy. Yes Maguire is sort of irreplaceable as a unique, modern athlete. Yet with time he may be improved upon. He doesn’t seem the type for requesting transfers, especially with talk of his ‘gentleman’s agreement’, it must be said.
