The pricetag reported by the media for Brighton’s Lewis Dunk is too much. Leicester City should consider keeping Harry Maguire for another season instead.

It’s been said before by Foxes of Leicester, as well as other publishers, that Harry Maguire is irreplaceable. That’s in a sense of style and modernity he exhibits at Leicester City.

Though a hypothetical incoming bid of £80 million would be an offer the East Midlands club can’t refuse for the defender, in our opinion.

There may also be as similar a centre-back available at Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion. Lewis Dunk can play the ball out nicely and with aplomb. His blocking is a thing of beauty, just as Wes Morgan’s is.

Additionally, like Maguire, the Gull’s vision is exceptional for a centre-half and he can find a target with a long pass too. Dunk’s goal threat from set-pieces like free-kicks and corners is second to none. He’s comparable to a tough as nails rocket-propelled magnet.

Statistically the once capped English international is impressive defensively: 3.3 aerials won a match; 1.2 tackles and 1.3 interceptions; 5.4 clearances and 1.1 blocks a game according to WhoScored.

In Thursday’s Sun, it is claimed the Seagulls have placed a staggering pricetag on their leader’s head:

"BRIGHTON want a £40million-plus fee should Leicester come calling for Lewis Dunk. The Foxes fear losing England defender Harry Maguire, 26, who is at the centre of a tug of war between both Manchester clubsUnited have bid £70m but Leicester value him closer to £85m.SunSport revealed on Wednesday that the centre-back wants to leave to play at a higher level and favours a switch to champions City"

Well, in all honesty £40m sounds a little much. In addition to taking off the gloss. Not to mention heavily reducing the amount of Maguire’s prospective goldmine of a transfer fee.

Will Leicester City sign Dunk?

It all hinges on Maguire’s departure; if he  remains a Fox for another season Dunk won’t be signed.

Though a move is more likely for the time being as FoL see it; this week were articles in national media stating the 25-year-old has requested a transfer away from Filbert Way.

Although if reports are to be believed and Manchester United and City are tapped out in relation to the Sheffield-born player’s fee at £70m and will pay no higher amount – it is likely that Khun Top Srivaddhanaprabha will not sell. His price must be met or King Power won’t relent.
