If Harry Maguire is sold to Manchester United or Manchester City, Leicester City reportedly don’t want a replacement so others at the club get opportunities.

Only yesterday FoL published an article which attempted to rake over the mess the media has made of Harry Maguire’s potential move to either Manchester United or Manchester City from Leicester City.

That was in the afternoon anyway, but by the evening the same publication at the heart of our blog contradicted itself. Anyway, all sports media seem to be on the same page now, with regards to Maguire wanting a transfer.

England’s stalwart has apparently informed his team-mates of that fact. In addition Leicester City will allegedly accept a bid of £80 million minimum for their prized defensive asset.

Though many observers expected the Blue Army to consequently have a new, marquee centre-back signing to welcome. Unfortunately for big thinking fans, that is not the case. The Foxes are reportedly going to trust youth; or the two centre-halfs at the club approaching their mid-twenties – ripe for the Premier League surely.

Here is a snippet from Sky Sports‘ article about Leicester’s apparent stance:

"Leicester have no plans to buy a new central defender in this transfer window even if Harry Maguire leaves for Manchester United or Manchester City, Sky Sports News understands.Maguire has told his team-mates and Leicester bosses that he wants to leave, but still has four years remaining on his current contract, and the Foxes are holding out for a new world-record fee for a defender before letting him go.Manchester United have made a £70m bid for the England international, and City have indicated they would match United’s fee, but neither offer has tempted Leicester so far."

While it’s great to hear that, almost by default, faith will be placed in the Leicester City youth players. Well, in reality that trust may go to Turk, Caglar Soyuncu, aged-23. Or more likely Croat, Filip Benkovic, aged-22; who impressed Brendan Rodgers at Celtic last season while on loan with the Northern Irishman.

Sky also added that Rodgers does not think Foxes targets Lewis Dunk of Brighton & Hove Albion or Burnley’s James Tarkowski represent fair value. Their respective touted prices are over £40m each.
