Kelechi Iheanacho starts scoring just when Leicester City need him
Just as Leicester City enter a particularly promising and important 2019/20 season, backup striker Kelechi Iheanacho has begun scoring goals.
Buying another striker to support Jamie Vardy seemed compulsory in this off-season. Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho hasn’t just struggled for goals in his time at King Power Stadium, he’s been devoid of confidence and any resemblance of an elite footballer.
To be completely honest he’s often been awful; that fact is compounded by a perceived lack of effort when he does get a vital opportunity. Therefore supporters were correct to question his quality or suitability for the Foxes through discussion. Though booing is never alright for your own players; unless rare and drastic circumstances call for it.
Now though, thankfully, it seems as though the Nigerian has found his scoring boots. He’s netted three in the last two friendly matches, albeit against lesser opposition. Yet Rotherham United, for example, are a decent Championship side with a competitive standard of squad.
On his form, the attacker who is still only 22-year-old, said this:
"“I am delighted, I am happy getting two goals today,” he said. “Hopefully I can take that into the season.“I think it’s important for my confidence. It has been a long time coming but I am happy again. I think I can take it fully into the season.“We have a big squad, so many players who are good footballers. Everyone is competing and fighting for a place.”Via: Leicester Mercury"
This is great to hear, as a Leicester fan and writer on the club; because Iheanacho seems a good guy and he doesn’t deserve some of the stick he’s received. Although he did need a proverbial kick-start.

Obviously the entire Blue Army want to see Nigeria’s target man do well; especially if it means fulfilling his potential. Not to mention the club not having to take a loss by selling Iheanacho and purchasing another expensive cover option.
Who knows, the former Citizen may even push Vardy for a starting place or make boss Brendan Rodgers reconsider his formation and system – but I wouldn’t hold your breath on that account.
