Brendan Rodgers has reiterated that there will no major departures from Leicester City in the January transfer window.

A number of the Foxes’ key players have been linked with big-money moves to the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’.

However, Rodgers is determined to keep hold of every single one of his main men, insisting that only if Leicester want to sell will a player be sold, otherwise not. In other words, you’re not getting anyone from the King Power Stadium.

Speaking ahead of Leicester’s FA Cup tie with Wigan Athletic, he said:

"“Nobody will leave here that we don’t want to go.“I think we’ve had a couple of enquiries in terms of loans and for some of our younger players.“But the players that are always talked about and mentioned, there will be nobody going.”"

This is what you want to see from the manager: an air of assurance and a clear-cut message to anyone who wants to come shop at the King Power Stadium.

James Maddison, Ricardo Pereira and Chilwell seem the most likely to be on their way out, and like anyone else in that Leicester squad, it is needless to say that their departure will have a huge impact.

United’s interest in Maddison isn’t a result of his performances this season. The Red Devils have been after him since his Norwich City days, while Pereira has only caught their – among many other clubs’ – eyes recently. Chilwell, on the other hand, has had a special place in the Blues’ hearts for a while – specially Frank Lampard.

Usually, if the interest is long-standing, then the longer it drags on without the manager/club openly addressing it, the more you risk losing the player.

Knowing the big clubs, they will not be bothered by any statements anyway but it does help the overall atmosphere and prevents any unrest among the faithful from affecting the players.
