According to reports this week Leicester City will make their first summer signing of 2020 soon, with FC Koln’s Ismail Jakobs set to sign.

Talk seems to be ramping up with regards to negotiating and setting a return to playing Premier League football. There has been chat of playing in neutral stadiums, including Leicester City’s King power ground. Or even concluding 2019/20 as far away as Australia.

A June comeback for the English top-flight now appears unlikely, however, as regulations for health protection for all involved from players, to referees, to kit personnel is undecided. Let alone agreed.

Leicester City transfer rumour

While the world faces a lengthy time period of alterations to usual life, one thing is constant – transfer recruiting. No, scouts cannot be outside watching players in games. Though there is an almost unlimited amount of footage available to all. Therefore leading football recruits will be busy at work.

Obviously many targets are already decided by clubs with desired athletes in their sights. With summer approaching fast, some negotiations will already be being conducted in-house, as well as fees between other teams.

One area that the Foxes are alleged to want to improve, protect or increase options in is left-back/wing-back. Now, certain fans will be wondering of this “but what about Ben Chilwell, he’s an England international?!“. Well, the Leicester City academy graduate is a great guy and a proud representative of the side.

Although Chilwell’s form dropped drastically this season, making a potential move easier to envisage for the Blue Army. If a wide selection of reports are to be believed, he’s possibly played his final game on Filbert Way already. Chelsea are the outfit most linked to signing the fullback. Not to mention Manchester City.

If Chilwell does depart, Leicester will have a replacement in mind. In fact Spanish media, per Leicester Mercury, are reporting that contact has been made over FC Koln’s Ismail Jakobs. He is 20 years-old and plays a versatile attacking left-sided role. Tottenham Hotspur are also apparently admirers of Jakobs.
