With the apparent entrance of two superclubs into the transfer race for star centre-back Kristoffer Ajer, Leicester City will do well to sign him.

Kristoffer Ajer is a wanted man, that is if you believe transfer reports from around Europe. To be perfectly frank, the defender will likely leave the Scottish Premier League for one of Europe’s top-five divisions over the summer. Ajer is currently playing his football at Celtic, where Brendan Rodgers was his one-time boss. Now the Leicester City manager is thought to want a reunion.

Norway’s centre-half is known for certain fine attributes most desired in that role. These elements are especially coveted in the premiership: at 6 feet, five inches his aerial boost is undeniable and complemented by ability; his strength and ferocity in the challenge has been noted; with a penchant for playing long-passes as well as carrying the ball; another worthy, prevalent aspect is posing a threat at attacking set-pieces.

This season’s transfer window, opening on June 10, is set to be a little different than usual: with English top-flight clubs not expected to spend as much as they normally do. However, Foxes of Leicester still envisages a lot of spending and switching; free agents will definitely be moving as they always do.

With regards to the Foxes, they are still reportedly targeting some players. Well, loads of targets if you trust the national sports media. Ajer has allegedly been on the East Midlanders’ wish-list for a while now, with Leicester City said to want a long-term replacement for Jonny Evans who’ll be 33-years-old in the new year.

The Hoops’ centre-back is undoubtedly a talented footballer, which is why he’s supposedly also being tracked by Real Madrid, along with Manchester City. In a story carried by Leicester Mercury, the two giants of the game are joined in pursuit of Ajer by Paris Saint-Germain. Hopefully Rodgers’ link will come to fruition.
