To the undoubted surprise of many Leicester City fans waking up on Sunday morning, it appears Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho may be sold.

Only a short six weeks ago, Foxes of Leicester wrote an article suggesting that Kelechi Iheanacho was a real dressing room character for Leicester City. One who is also maturing in games at a convenient time, as Brendan Rodgers leads his Foxes towards a very likely European campaign next term.

Citing the forward’s jovial and affable personality, FoL also described how important including personas like that is for any football team. Galvanising team spirit, indeed.

Proving himself at Leicester City

This season the Nigeria international began to prove his worth to his Foxes boss: managing 10 goal involvements in 17 appearances. Including six as a substitute, across the Premier League, League Cup as well as the FA Cup, as per WhoScored.com.

A return and influence – especially against rivals Aston Villa – which has witnessed fans value Iheanacho increasingly more. Seen in a visible sense through social media etcetera.

An advance in displays was certainly required from the former Manchester City player, as chanting of “what a waste of money” would have only been a year or so away. In recent times, as previously stated, Iheanacho is now justifying the £25 million paid to the Citizens for his services almost three years ago.

Therefore Saturday night’s late transfer gossip from Daily Mail claiming that Iheanacho is possibly going to be sold for as little as £20m was presumably a surprise to Leicester City supporters. Apparently the King Power side are considering selling their asset to fund the purchase of Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.
