Leicester v Villa friendlies give starting XI clues

Leicester City played two friendlies versus Aston Villa on Wednesday. What clues did we get of the eventual Foxes side to start at Watford?

Wednesday saw one friendly at King Power Stadium and another at Villa Park between the Leicester city and Aston Villa squads. These practice matches were very inconspicuous: with Foxes official social media not posting much. There are a few photographs and an article with little or no analysis substance on LCFC.com.

Therefore no hint is given as to a scoreline in either noncompetitive clash, with the two rival clubs’ rosters split over two games. However, there are some perceived clues as to the eventual Leicester starting line-up for the Watford contest when the Premier League restarts very shortly.

Leicester City starting XI clues

Before Brendan Rodgers’ players separated into two and assembled for these warm up exercises, the Foxes played an intra-squad match – essentially Leicester City vs Leicester City – on Filbert Way. Once again, there is no tangible assessment to be placed on the play nor an outcome on that day, which was Saturday last weekend.

Although in the friendly at Villa, Rodgers went with very familiar defensive starters: Kasper Schmeichel, Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu and Ben Chilwell. Additionally, according to Leicester Mercury, top prospect James Justin began at right-back. Supporting a recent article by Foxes of Leicester which predicts as much.

With regards to any indications of the probable midfielders and attackers to be selected for the Hornets fixture on June 20, it appears to FoL that Marc Albrighton is up against Demarai Gray for the apparently injured Ayoze Perez‘s place. While Youri Tielemans partnering James Maddison may be a sign that Dennis Praet could lose out. Jamie Vardy is almost certain to begin versus Watford, as are Wilfred Ndidi and Harvey Barnes.
