Leicester City’s pre-Sheffield United press conference is complete. Marc Albrighton, Ben Chilwell and James Maddison are all doubtful with injuries.

By 8pm on Thursday, we will probably know if Leicester City’s Champions League push has hit a brick wall. Otherwise the ambition to finish third or fourth will have again become feasible.

Even if the Foxes beat Sheffield United on said day, there is then the difficult task of overcoming Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the remaining two Premier League clashes.

Another Leicester City injury blow

Boss of the King Power outfit, Brendan Rodgers, has taken questions from assembled media at his pre-Blades match press conference. Unfortunately for the East Midlands team, they have a trio of first team doubts thanks to a host of injuries.

Centre-back stalwart Caglar Soyuncu was dismissed versus Bournemouth for losing his composure in a very petulant moment. He’ll be a huge miss, whichever defender the replaces him. Ricardo Pereira is a long-term absentee but will hopefully return for the beginning of next season.

James Maddison’s hip injury means he is unlikely to reclaim his place in the side. While his international colleague with England, Ben Chilwell, is also likely to be out due to his ongoing heel issue. And Marc Albrighton, substituted with a knock early against the Cherries, will most probably be unavailable. All three are desperately needed in the matchday squad.

TRANSFER RUMOURS. Chelsea, Milan interest makes Leicester marquee signing unlikely. light

In their previous four English top-flight encounters, Sheff Utd have managed three victories over the incredibly tough opposition of Chelsea, Wolverhampton Wanderers as well as Spurs.
