Leicester are tracking ideal Premier League winger
It is absolutely plain to see that Leicester City need an injection of effervescence occasionally, on the wing especially. Todd Cantwell may be the answer.
Leicester City are back on track, well, they have been for one match. But momentum may be the element which helps attain the Champions League dream. Sheffield United were not up to the task at King Power Stadium in the previous Foxes match, handing impetus to Brendan Rodgers’ side for their final two clashes.
An area lacking for Leicester City
Ayoze Perez has given his all, pretty much, for Leicester on the wing this season. He’s playing out of position to be fair – preferably he’s a striker or No.10, the latter he’s played well as recently – but isn’t the most dynamic and won’t take on his marker enough. That last point is a shame because he has the deftness required to beat opponents.
What Rodgers really requires is a specialist wingman; a quality, proven Premier League or comparable division player. Who is preferably left-footed and plies his trade on the right-wing. That would be a perfect fit.
That’s where Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell may come in. Daily Mail suggests Leicester are admirers, though they will possibly face competition from either Manchester City or Newcastle United.
Cantwell can play on either wing and with seeming ambidexterity; the 22-year-old plays more often on the left, but has scored two from the right in a fraction of the outings, comparatively. Obviously Harvey Barnes is being developed as the Foxes‘ long-term left-sided forward, yet the Canary is so versatile he is worth having on Filbert Way.
Tottenham Hotspur welcome Leicester City for the Foxes’ next fixture. The premiership is no longer a route into Europe for the extremely disappointing Spurs team; while the East Midlanders have already qualified for the Europa League and can still make the Champions League. Expect a hard-fought contest between the two top-end rivals.
