Kelechi Iheanacho is apparently wanted for a transfer by some Premier League clubs, and Leicester City should seriously consider selling him.

I know a lot of Leicester City supporters will instantly disagree with my assertion that Kelechi Iheanacho should be sold. But, please, have the patience to at least wait for me to explain and hopefully convince you.

Funnily enough, I was probably one of the first people in the Blue Army to point out the fact that the Nigeria striker was one of very few Foxes attackers that actually supplied a spark or innovation since the restart.

While Jamie Vardy struggled and wasn’t even linking up play with midfielders in many outings, Iheanacho was doing that. Not to mention his supplying of some goals and key play.

However, spotting the positive influence of the latter was a surprise: following his £25 million move to Filbert Way Iheanacho has generally underperformed. He has had one or two excellent patches; I remember last season he started assisting rapidly so fans began to wonder if he could make it as a premiership No.10 or even winger – but I highly doubt it. Especially at the level Leicester aspire to.

Leicester City Should sell Kelechi Iheanacho

Essentially my main issue with the forward is this: Iheanacho doesn’t have the most assured touch on the ball and occasionally bumbles his way through a play. His decision-making is often unwise; and he simply hasn’t scored enough whilst a Leicester City player. Those elements also counteract Brendan Rodgers‘ fast paced, fluid counterattacks.

I’m trying to be fair so let me put it this way – it’d be absolutely satisfactory for the Nigerian to remain at King Power Stadium, though the East Midlanders may require a higher calibre of supporting hitman.

If the interest from Newcastle United, Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion is legitimate, as well as a bid towards Iheanacho‘s original price-tag emerges – the Foxes should accept. Then they should reinvest in Bournemouth’s Josh King or Callum Wilson.
