How Leicester could line-up next season with ideal transfers
Striker – Jamie Vardy
Alongside Schmeichel, Jamie Vardy is one of the first names on the team sheet come matchday. The Foxes striker won the Golden Boot for the first time last season with 23 goals, showing that he is nowhere near finished.
After making a name for himself in the 2015/16 title-winning season, many labelled Vardy as a ‘one-season wonder’. Strange, right?
Since then, Vardy has scored in the Champions League, at Wembley, won the Golden Boot, scored 74 league goals and reached the 100 Premier League goal club.
The former-Fleetwood Town man has changed his style of play. After admitting that he didn’t suit Claude Puel’s style of play, Vardy has improved his game and now the football played at the club compliments him.
Since Rodger swapped Celtic for Leicester City in February 2019, Vardy has scored 32 Premier League goals for the club and his goal assists have also improved, totalling five.
Alongside Vardy has been Kelechi Iheanacho. Since his arrival in 2017, Iheanacho has scored 21 league goals in 117 appearances.
However, Iheanacho has failed to compete with Vardy much, starting only 40 games and being subbed on 77 times. There have been rumours that the Nigerian striker will depart the club this summer in seek of first-team football, with Rodgers wanting to bring Odsonne Eduoard to England.
There has also been rumour of Luka Jovic leaving Real Madrid for Leicester this summer after one season. The Serbian’s time in the Bernabeu hasn’t gone to plan, after storming onto the scene for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2018/19 season.
If either Jovic or Eduoard are brought into the club, Iheanacho will have to leave to free-up funds. However, the rumours have fallen to death ears regarding Jovic and Eduoard has kicked-off his season with Celtic already.
