European footballing giants Juventus and AC Milan will possibly stand in the way if Leicester City want to sign Burnley’s Dwight McNeil.

Burnley winger Dwight McNeil is widely admired after coming to unmistakable prominence in 2019/20. At age-20 he is said to be attracting attention from some of the most respected and largest clubs in Italy. Not to mention the ambitious, fifth placed Premier League outfit Leicester City apparently being interested in the Englishman.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are also credited with targeting McNeil; Wolves were disappointingly eliminated from Europa League competition on Tuesday evening.

Leicester City want a left-footed wingman

According to Sky Sports, the Foxes have a ‘long-term interest’ in McNeil. Which adds to the fact that manager Brendan Rodgers desires a left-footed right-winger on his roster. At present there are no wingers who predominantly play with their left foot in the squad.

Harvey Barnes seems suited to the right-wing and is gradually developing as a real force in the English top-flight. Ayoze Perez is a central player by self professed trade, therefore he shouldn’t have been playing on the wing for most of the season. It’s a real mistake by Leicester to be filling this position two-years too late.

Of course Marc Albrighton is a trusty but somewhat ageing, predictable performer on either side. Where to start with Demarai Gray?! Maybe he should be used as a part exchange to secure a new winger.

The main problem with McNeil is that he is mostly deployed on the left-wing. Leicester really require a lefty who is accustomed in an inverted capacity, and regularly cuts in. Anyway, that fits Rodgers’ former system – before the 3-4-1-2 – but now, who knows?

Burnley’s star would be a great addition, yet not an ideal one. He has been tried on the opposite side, but is a crosser more than a shooter.

Hot. Foxes eye up England U21 starlet. light

If Foxes of Leicester surveyed our follower base at present – which we will do forthwith – I believe that Brentford’s Said Benrahma is the feasible wideman signing that the Blue Army most want. Then Bournemouth’s David Brooks and Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell would be a close second and third.
