Starlet Luke Thomas signed a long-term professional contract at Leicester City on Tuesday. And there is more good news as Jamie Vardy has also re-signed.

Leicester City are preparing their squad for a return to Premier League football on September 12. Travelling to West Bromwich Albion for their first contest will not be an easy encounter, with the Baggies hoping to survive the drop after Championship promotion. Nevertheless, the Foxes could have had a much more difficult opener than that.

Why I’m touching on an element of fortune for the East Midlanders, is that there’s been a lot of negativity recently online from supposed supporters. Obviously all of us true Blue fans are very concerned over the lack of signings – but this club is conducting supreme evolution, they’re a work on progress.

And the aim is for top-six – or higher, which would be hard to sustain –  longevity. A new state-of-the-art training ground and investment into the stadium will hopefully enable Leicester to challenge with the big boys. Failing to qualify for the Champions League accelerated some understandably bad feelings amongst the Foxes faithful. Although Europa League was the realistic ambition for 2019/20.

In further pleasing news, Jamie Vardy has extended his contract by another year. That rules out any teams taking the English top-flight’s top goalscorer away from Filbert Way.

Additionally, excellent starlet prospect, Luke Thomas, has signed a “long-term” professional deal with Leicester. Like Vardy, who’ll be with the Foxes until 2023 at least, Thomas was likely rewarded and protected due to fine displays for Brendan Rodgers. Thomas is also surely a future England international. With James Maddison penning a fresh agreement, too, things are looking up, and will be even more so when a signing materialises.
