Leicester want £20m-rated Monaco left-back to replace Chilwell
Leicester City are targeting Monaco’s left-back Fode Ballo-Toure to replace academy graduate Ben Chilwell this season.
Now that Ben Chilwell’s switch to Chelsea has finally been confirmed, Leicester City must act fast to replace the England international. Luke Thomas is one for the future; a bright, attacking, modern fullback with class. When Thomas is a little older and has some worthwhile experience on loan at a decent club, he’ll be the man. A permanent No.3.
For now the other choices of an ageing Christian Fuchs or James Justin swapping sides to play left, seem unsatisfactory. Justin didn’t look convincing at all on the right in his opportunity since Ricardo Pereira’s injury. While Fuchs is a brilliant back-up, he can’t compete for the entire term.
Leicester City tipped to bid for Fode Ballo-Toure
Could Leicester be targeting Monaco’s Fode Ballo-Toure for a transfer? That is what reports are saying. Manchester United have also recently been credited with an interest in the Frenchman.
There is now speculation that the King Power outfit have “penciled in talks” to discuss a possible bid for the left-back. Ballo-Toure has been apparently been extensively scouted by the East Midlands team, and boss Brendan Rodgers is thought to be a fan of the defender.
On Wednesday Leicester won their initial friendly of the 2020/21 campaign 2-0 at Birmingham City‘s training facility. The impressive Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and a fortunate Marc Albrighton got the goals. Next up for the Foxes is a second and final preseason warm up contest versus Sheffield Wednesday at Loughborough University Stadium in Leicestershire, at 12pm BST.
