Leicester City really need to start making transfer moves ahead of the approaching 2020/21 Premier League season. Especially now there are mounting injuries and targets are being snapped up.

Is it time for Leicester City fans to panic? No. Well, not exactly. It is, however, particularly concerning for the support and club in general not just that signings haven’t been made, but that significant transfers haven’t been completed by the Foxes.

At this rate, with the Europa League adding to an already congested fixture list, it feels very unlikely Brendan Rodgers will be able to guide his depleted squad to as high a position as fifth in the upcoming EPL season.

Compounding that theory is the loss of Ben Chilwell at left-back – despite his shortcomings in the previous term – who, as an England international, surely had to be replaced.

Furthermore, teams in and around Leicester have also begun to recruit. And in the case of Chelsea, will almost certainly finish above the East Midlanders in the premiership. Even Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal will now presumably overtake Leicester’s – at risk – great progress.

Leicester City miss out on quality target

Rodgers was apparently targeting Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie during this window. Yet the American has now joined Italian giants Juventus via a £4m loan. Which may become permanent for £22.7 million, depending on certain stipulations.

In all honesty, McKennie could well have been an excellent addition. Though he would’ve added to an already strong area in centre-midfield. Hence the reason ‘missing out’ did not affect the already worried mood of the faithful. Another perfect potential switch for the Foxes which won’t happen now, was Brighton centre-back Ben White, who will remain a Seagull.
