Leicester complete signing but fans will have to wait for announcement
By James Bishop
Leicester City have signed Timothy Castagne on a 5-year deal; however, fans will be expected to wait until September 9 until its official.
Timothy Castagne will sign for £21 million, a deal which will make him the most expensive Belgian of the summer, as Leicester City finally make their first signing of the transfer window.
The Atalanta right-back will presumably slot into left-back slot to replace Ben Chilwell, as Brendan Rodgers can finally give some good news to Foxes fans.
However, Kristof Terreur (the journalist who broke the news) told a Leicester supporter that the deal will be announced on 9th September.
An agonising wait, and a confusing one, given that there is nothing holding the deal back, and with everyone around the East Midlander’s strengthening surely Rodgers would want to announce a deal to boost moral.
Nevertheless, the news is uplifting as Castagne is an excellent Right Back who can play on the left, whilst also playing further up the pitch on the left and right hand side.
Rodgers has acquired an incredibly versatile player, someone so similar to Ricardo in those terms. Last term the Belgian international scored 1 and assisted 3 times in 27 Serie A appearances, for an Atalanta side that only finished 5 points off the champions Juventus.
Questions will be asked about where Castagne will fit into this Leicester side with left back, right wing and left wing still yet to claimed, but the news is very encouraging despite the long wait.
