Leicester are targeting £20m-rated former Premier League left-back
With the signing of versatile fullback Timothy Castagne all but announced, Leicester City will now turn their attention to securing a suitable left-back.
Foxes of Leicester can confirm that Atalanta fullback Timothy Castagne has signed for Leicester City. In fact, the player himself announced the switch at Belgium’s national press conference on Tuesday. It’s good to know that the Foxes have someone assertive and direct. That’s exactly what the fans like on the wings or from attacking defenders on Filbert Way.
Next up on Leicester’s transfer wishlist is a left-back. An incoming right-winger is also absolutely imperative for Brendan Rodgers’ roster, but Ben Chilwell’s departure ultimately bumped his vacant position’s importance.
Leicester City want Norwich City left-back
In recent Leicester transfer rumours, the East Midlands side have been linked to Norwich City left-back Jamal Lewis. Now those stories are reignited, with football media giants Sky Sports reporting on the apparent interest.
Reporter Kaveh Solhekol suggests that Rodgers’ scouts are monitoring the defender, who managed one goal last season. That finish was sublime and actually came against the Foxes.
Solhekol confirms that the Canaries rejected Liverpool’s £10 million bid earlier in the summer window. Furthermore, it is claimed that the King Power club will have to make a £20m offer to secure the 22 year old’s signature.
Lewis would be a decent potential signing, but not ideal and not as high profile as the Blue Army appear to desire.
There is only one upcoming friendly remaining for Leicester before 2020/21 starts. Blackburn Rovers will journey to Leicestershire for a warm up match on Saturday, September 5 at 1pm BST.
