Leicester City seem to have made a breakthrough in the chase for Wesley Fofana, as Saint-Etienne drop the defender from matchday squad.

After playing all of Saint-Etienne’s matches so far this season and attracting rave reviews for his Ligue 1 performances, Wesley Fofana was dropped by former Leicester City manager, Claude Puel. Puel now runs les Verts, with his starlet wanted by the Premier League side.

Last week the Frenchman in charge of St. Etienne stated emphatically that the centre-back is not for sale and won’t be leaving France for England this year.

However, as Foxes of Leicester reported a few days ago, their vice-president seems to have contradicted or overruled Puel. In fact it is claimed that the president would accept a bid which meets his valuation of Fofana.

Sky Sports suggests Leicester are already in talks for Fofana; while Brendan Rodgers refused to comment on links. Furthermore, the outlet says the deal is likely to be a loan with an option to buy.

Making a potential transfer more feasible is the fact that the 19 year old was in the original St. Etienne squad for their match at Nantes. Hopefully this move will materialise, because another centre-half seems paramount on Filbert Way.
