With centre-backs Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu’s partnership halted due to suspension, another injury means a potential nightmare in defence for Leicester City.

If there ever was more blatant comeuppance for not acting fast enough or paying a fair amount for a deal in the transfer market, I am yet to see it. Leicester City may now be forced to promote a Youth or Development side player to the first team because of a nightmare problem in the centre of defence.

Brendan Rodgers or his Recruitment department have not signed a suitable centre-back this off-season. Yes, there are coronavirus issues affecting the football world; it must be truly difficult to get business done. I understand that.

However, the Foxes are apparently searching for a centre-half; Rodgers actually confirmed that rumour indirectly on a number of occasions during press briefings etc.

A target or two – Saint-Etienne’s Wesley Fofana, along with Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen – have been selected by the King Power club. Though neither seem to be the subject of a definite switch.

Wilfred Ndidi injury causes Leicester City major problem

As you all know, because Jonny Evans is suspended, Wes Morgan is not up to the task and Filip Benkovic is constantly injured and possibly considered unsatisfactory, Wilfred Ndidi has been playing at the back. And very well the 23 year old has done, too.

light. Hot. FoL wishes player good luck as he is set to leave

Yet the midfielder has now withdrawn from the Nigeria squad due to a groin injury, according to Goal. The Nigerians’ matches are on October 9 and 13, so Ndidi could potentially miss Leicester‘s Premier League games against Manchester City, West Ham United, as well as Aston Villa. Although, he wasn’t expected to feature versus Arsenal in the Carabao Cup. Obviously Rodgers will be hoping Jonny Evans is fit when his suspension ends.
