Since the beginning of last season, Leicester City have steadily managed to increase the output, consistency and impact of star winger Harvey Barnes.
There is no doubt that Harvey Barnes is transitioning to polished diamond at Leicester City, after once being a raw prospect at the club.
The winger had regressed slightly as the 2019/20 restart unfolded; yet he has again found his scoring and facilitating boots to scare Premier League defenders. Overall, it was a fine campaign for the Fox.
Barnes’s output in the previous season for Leicester was more impressive than some imagine: nine assists and six goal across all competitions, which came from only 39 appearances. This term he’s started very well; the directness exhibited is, as England boss Gareth Southgate noted, ‘unique’.
All in all, Barnes has contributed one assist whilst netting once in only three games so far in 2020/21. Yet his key passing and ability to attract opponents and consequently free space for others is a less tangible statistic. But one that many observers have commented on.
Subsequent to his Three Lions call-up from Southgate, reports claim that the winger is in line for a new, lucrative contract at King Power Stadium.
In addition, the 22 year old’s father, Paul – also a former professional footballer – thanked Rodgers for the impact the Northern Irishman had on his son, following Harvey’s maiden call-up for England. Paul said the day the seniors promoted Harvey was fantastic. He added that the family cried tears of joy – how lovely. Rodgers has been praised for his approach to developing promising youth; the boss also broke the wonderful news to his player.
