Talk about a long-awaited return, Ricardo Pereira has been sorely missed by his Leicester City team-mates and fans since his injury. But a comeback is edging closer.

To be slightly more accurate, Ricardo Pereira’s absence was truly felt in the severely disappointing 2019/20 Premier League run-in. In fact, it is likely that Leicester City would have qualified for the Champions League tournament if the Portuguese hadn’t endured a bad injury.

Nevertheless, Timothy Castagne has been excellent in replacing Ricardo this season, overall. Yes, the Belgian’s defending isn’t quite as impactful or rambunctious as the fans would want or expect. Yet on the attack, Castagne somehow actually manages to almost recreate the standard of the missing right-back.

It is likely that the Belgium international will switch to the left side of defence when the Portugal player does eventually come back into the Foxes starting line-up. Ricardo is an automatic starter, and, in Foxes of Leicester’s opinion, one of the three or four most important performers on the City roster.

James Justin will be severely unlucky to be relegated to the substitute’s bench after some vastly improved and excellent displays. However, having the extra depth of quality in the ranks is also something the King Power outfit have strived for in recent, evolving, contemporary times.

Ricardo Pereira’s Leicester City comeback nears

FoL are extremely happy to relay the news that Ricardo has traveled with the Foxes squad to Greece for their Europa League clash with AEK Athens. While the defender is not quite yet in contention for an appearance – it is a sign that he will be soon!

Additionally, the latest comeback date expected for the right-back was early December, but Leicestershire Live report that it could be as quick as late November.
