Ex-Leicester player makes shock career switch after retiring
Following his recent retirement from professional football, former Leicester City centre-back Marcin Wasilewski will go into cage fighting.
At the age of 40, former Leicester City defender Marcin Wasilewski retired from his beloved Wisla Krakow in his home country of Poland. Not many outfield players mature to 35 while still at elite level. And only goalkeepers really play until they’re four decades old. But not “Wasyl”, as he is affectionately known by Foxes fans.
On the pitch for Leicester in his four seasons at the club, subsequent to joining from Anderlecht – of whom, some of the Belgian faithful actually came to watch their hero at King Power Stadium and made bonds with Leicester people – Wasilewski was revered among a hardcore of City supporters.
Even the less vocal fans and people who don’t necessarily chant at matches seemed to enjoy and admire the often well-timed brute strength and appeal of “Was” during his 61 appearances.
ex-Leicester City man to become pugilist
OK, so you would believe out of all ex-Foxes that it would be Wasilewski who would become a cage fighter, but it is still quite a surprise at 40-years-old. Yet that it exactly what he plans to do after hanging up his boots. Read more here.
I’m sure that the entire Blue Army would want to show up for Wasyl’s scrap, or at least watch it on television. Foxes of Leicester will keep an eye out for any information or action to keep you all informed of.
Back to the game, and there is a ponderable issue for Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers ahead of playing SC Braga: should the Northern Irishman continue with his recent rotation and three centre-halves? Alternatively, the gaffer could choose to be a little bit more adventurous towards a repeat scoreline against their Europa League opponents. Which would please the faithful and boost the team after a heavy Premier League defeat themselves. However, with only a few points needed for qualification, I’m sure Rodgers will take the prudent option.
