During the standard Brendan Rodgers pre-match press conference ahead of Leicester City’s clash with AEK Athens, the boss gave injury updates.

While stand-ins and understudies at Leicester City such as Christian Fuchs, Luke Thomas, Marc Albrighton, James Justin and even Wesley Fofana – the emphasis is because he is a particularly valued prospect – have been more than satisfactory in their starting, starring roles since the long-term absence of Ricardo Pereira.

Not to mention those peripheral personnel filling the shoes of the sorely missed Caglar Soyuncu and Timothy Castagne. Thankfully, the fitness ravaged Foxes roster will soon become an evenly balanced team once again.

Which makes the fact that Leicester are fourth in the Premier League and shall hopefully top Europa League Group G all the more impressive.

Injury updates on Leicester City men Timothy Castagne and Caglar Soyuncu

Brendan Rodgers gave the usual pre-match press conference before his men meet AEK Athens on Thursday. Thanks to Rob Tanner of the Athletic, we are aware of the status of the latter two injured players.

Firstly, Rodgers did not want to give a timeframe for Soyuncu’s City return. After some uninformed observers claimed the Turk was rushed back from his issue, the manager also emphasised that the centre-back must indicate when he feels ready.

Like with Soyuncu, Rodgers refused to name a date or game for Castagne’s comeback, but did imply that it wouldn’t be too long.

In addition to giving fitness information on the two stars, the Northern Irishman in charge also spoke about the probable strength of the side he will eventually name to face the Greeks.

Rodgers assured media that the Foxes team would be strong, saying the starters will be a group that can claim victory in the final match of the first round. Following that UEL contest, the east Midlands outfit face Brighton & Hove Albion.
