After two points dropped at Crystal Palace yesterday, Brendan Rodgers spoke to the media about a few Leicester City stars and why they missed out on the trip to London.

Much of the talk going into the Crystal Palace game was how many changes would Brendan Rodgers make? With such a quick turnover – 48 hours, compared to 72 hours for other teams – he had to rotate key players.

Youri Tielemans, James Maddison, Wesley Fofana, Timothy Castagne and Jamie Vardy were all either rested or dropped to the substitute’s bench.

The changes didn’t make any difference in the first half as Leicester dominated the ball and should have gone into the break with a lead, had Kelechi Iheanacho not missed his penalty.

An unusual sluggish second half from Foxes enabled the Eagles to get back into the game and with some awful defending Wilfred Zaha gave Palace the lead, but Harvey Barnes scored another equaliser on his left foot to share the spoils.

Many will feel it was two points dropped, and with such an important game against Newcastle at the weekend, surely the rested stars will make a comeback.

But the Northern Irishman gave some updates on those who didn’t play at Selhurst Park, saying:

"“Fofana needed to come out, we’re managing an issue with him. Castagne is just back from a hamstring, can’t risk him again in a short period. Ndidi you don’t want to risk him so quickly. Maddison wasn’t fit so couldn’t travel”"

So Maddison and Fofana are the only real doubts for the next game, as the other two have just come back from long term injuries. Newcastle are where Newcastle always are, just above the relegation places, however they have the visit of Liverpool to contend with tomorrow which will make the game on Sunday all the more important.
