Leicester transfer news: A change in the future of Filip Benkovic
Leicester City have seemingly decided not to sell Filip Benkovic to Celtic; presumably the Scottish club won’t be thrilled about that choice.
Oh dear, what a pity, never mind, is my effort at a euphemistic take on what the Blue Army will feel about Celtic losing out on a Leicester City transfer target. After rumours in sports media suggested Filip Benkovic was heading north of the border, it now appears as though he is going elsewhere.
There is no love lost between supporters of either club, from what Foxes of Leicester has seen on Twitter. And, let’s face it – we all witnessed a small portion of vile Hoops fans effectively making death wishes directed at Brendan Rodgers after he departed Scotland to take over at the Foxes.
That’s not to say that every football team doesn’t have a minority of nasty fans, it’s still an issue. And it’s certainly not just Celtic’s problem. In fact, the majority of the Bhoys support is known and admired globally for their passion.
What’s next for Leicester City defender Filip Benkovic?
Unfortunately for Celtic, who reportedly wanted to permanently sign Benkovic, he is apparently moving to King Power owned OH Leuven in Belgium. However, it is also claimed by Daily Mail that Neil Lennon’s indecision caused the Scots to miss out. The Croatian international will join Leicester legend Andy King at Leuven.
Leicester play Southampton at King Power Stadium next. Jamie Vardy and James Maddison are expected to rejoin the matchday squad for the Saints clash. Meanwhile, Cengiz Under will be assessed prior to the game; but Ricardo Pereira will likely not feature, although the Portuguese is said to be back in full training. In the
‘ previous contest, they defeated Stoke City 4-0 in the FA Cup.
