Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and Cengiz Under all missed the FA Cup triumph at Stoke City on Saturday. After the game, Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers named an expected return date.

I think that many observers and fans, neutral or otherwise, predicted a fairly simple Leicester City win at Midlands rivals Stoke City. Saturday’s FA Cup clash transpired into a quite thrilling occasion for Foxes supporters, as the team completed a 4-0 victory on the day.

Brendan Rodgers chose to name what most people believe was his strongest available side for the game. Having done loads of rotating and justifying it every time, Rodgers explained that the King Power club are taking the cup very seriously. This season, at least!

The date for the Fourth Round draw has already been nominated, in fact, the Fifth Round selection of ties will also take place on Monday. Strangely. This will actually happen before the Third has been completed.

Next up for Leicester City

Southampton are Leicester’s subsequent opponents at home in the Premier League on Saturday, January 16. The Saints are another surprise package in this contemporary campaign. Similarly to Aston Villa, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team are not punching above their weight – they are, rather, showcasing an underrated roster of committed team-mates.

The availability of certain star players will be an issue on many of the faithful’s collective minds ahead of meeting Southampton. According to Leicestershire Live, Jamie Vardy and James Maddison should feature in the next contest. If Cengiz Under isn’t in contention for the weekend, he is expected to be available for the Chelsea fixture three-days later.

Soon there will be a European knockout match to look forward to, in this rapidly developing season. Leicester face Slavia Prague in the first leg of their two-match battle in the Europa League Round of 32 on Thursday, February 18.
