Leicester City are monitoring Middlesbrough midfielder Marcus Tavernier this transfer window, with a number of Premier League clubs interested

The January transfer window is so vital in any season, but in a season filled with injuries and COVID cases, it may be the most important one of all. That is definitely true for Leicester City. Brendan Rodgers has said that he will only buy if the right player is available, but his squad has been injury hit this season with as many as six players out at the same time. Surely his team must be looking at some additions.

Maybe we’re on the same wavelength, as The Boot Room have claimed that Leeds United, Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester are all keeping tabs on the 21-year-old. Unfortunately Boro have no intentions of letting him go as they are currently just outside of the playoff’s in 7th.

With the winger being a likely target for Leicester this winter, Foxes of Leicester talk you through everything you need to know about the youngster.

Despite his age, Tavernier has already registered 100 appearances for the championship club – scoring 12 goals and providing 12 assists. He has also involved with England having notched up 15 caps for the Under-20 side. Tavernier has been a mainstay for Neil Warnock’s side, featuring in every match this season, with six goal contributions.

One of the reasons he’s vital for Boro is his adaptability. The midfielder can play in a number of positions, featuring in all positions across the midfield- left, right and central- and he has even emerged as a No.10, which is something Premier League clubs are taking note of.

However, with James Maddison, Dennis Praet, Youri Tielemans, Ayoze Perez, Wilfred Ndidi, Papy Mendy and Hamza Choudhury at Brendan Rodgers’ disposal in midfield, along with Middlesbrough’s reluctance to sell during a promotion push, Tavernier may just be one for the Foxes future.
