Leicester injury update: will Vardy play against Chelsea?
Unfortunately for Leicester City, legendary striker Jamie Vardy limped off towards the end of the victory over Southampton on Saturday.
Youri Tielemans pulled the maestro strings in centre-midfield for Leicester versus Southampton at King Power Stadium this weekend. Belgium’s wonderful star created two quality goals as City battled their way to victory.
First of all, Tielemans delivered a perfectly-weighted through ball to set-up the initial finish for James Maddison. Maddison took his chance expertly; reminiscent of no-nonsense legendary Premier League strikers from an era gone by, such as Les Ferdinand or Ruud van Nistelrooy.
After the game, Madders explained that to score from that area, the only place to put the ball was the roof of the net. The England international’s father rightly told his son: ‘the goalkeeper has everywhere else covered’, as per Sky Sports‘ coverage.
Subsequently, as the Foxes were pressed by a still impressively organised Saints side, Tielemans played another deft pass into Harvey Barnes. Barnes made no mistake: waiting for Alex McCarthy, the opposition’s stopper, to commit then duly slotting home in the opposing corner.
Barnes’ record is that of one of the best English top-flight wingers in contemporary times, his profile continues to rise. As do Leicester City, to second in the EPL.
