There is currently a transfer rumour stating that Bundesliga club RB Leipzig would like to sign Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho, though a deal is unlikely to occur.

A sale of the Nigerian in this transfer window was unlikely before Jamie Vardy was injured. Now that the former-England international is out of action for up to a month, it is basically out of the question that Iheanacho is sold.

Unless Leicester decided to go ahead and purchase another striker; although, Brendan Rodgers claimed that isn’t going to happen in January, anyway.

Though, the manager did make a public u-turn on the apparent contemporary policy of not buying any players during this time period. In a change of decision, Rodgers now says an attacking midfielder is needed immediately on Filbert Way.

To be fair to the gaffer, only Dennis Praet and James Maddison really occupy that specialised role; Youri Tielemans is a deeper dictator. Praet could be out until April so it is natural that Rodgers now has the authority to attempt to sign a forward-thinking individual. Yet the latter has also claimed there are not a lot of available funds to utilise.

RB Leipzig likely to be rejected by Leicester City

This is what Leicestershire Live says on Iheanacho’s possible departure:

"“Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho is on a three-man transfer shortlist…“The list, drawn up by RB Leipzig, is also said to contain Liverpool’s Divock Origi and Nice’s Kasper Dolberg.“According to German outlet Bild, Leipzig could be active before the end of the transfer window.”"

More from the Leicester orbit now, as the Foxes prepare to switch back to an FA Cup contest, this time against Brentford in the Fourth Round. Sunday’s clash is certainly not a foregone conclusion because the Bees sitting fourth in the Championship with a highly-rated squad. Some of the London side’s talents deserve to be in the Premier League, to be quite honest. The match kicks off at 2:30pm GMT, at Brentford Community Stadium.
