Leicester City and big seven rivals Tottenham Hotspur are set to do battle this summer for Championship star Todd Cantwell of Norwich City.

To be perfectly honest, if the Foxes have identified Cantwell as a viable or top option on their list of forward-thinking midfield men – then there seems to be no need to wait until July or August to make a move or complete a switch.

Even if said prospective agreement would be with a view to capturing the player at the end of the campaign, or on a temporary basis. Even a loan-to-buy deal would suffice. Either way, Leicester should not allow Spurs to steal the target!

Cantwell can be described as a special talent, even before you start talking utility play for filling various roles. As a versatile athlete, the 22-year-old’s capacity, status or value as a Premier League asset grows a lot. In all fairness, he is simply too good for the Championship, with all due respect to the great and entertaining division. Hey, we as Leicester fans have been there, too.

On Wednesday, the Englishman was the subject of transfer gossip once more. Within the ‘exclusive’ piece from Football League World, it is claimed that the Premier League pair are ‘monitoring Cantwell’ and may bid in the summer.

Brendan Rodgers on Leicester City transfer intention

Below is what Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers previously said on incoming players – with Cantwell a seemingly perfect arrival – after a turnaround in intentions in this season’s January transfer window from the King Power side.
