Brendan Rodgers has hinted at some of a starting role for the next Leicester City match versus Everton in the Premier League.

Some supporters weren’t overly impressed with Ayoze Perez on Sunday afternoon in the FA Cup win at Brentford. Yet, those fans may need to alter or reappraise their expectations of the Spaniard.

Perez is not going to hold-up the ball like Andy Carroll; sprint after through balls to a great percentage of success rate like Jamie Vardy; nor is the deputy striker going to bustle his way through players with brute strength.

What Perez can apply, is canny finishing, clever link-up play and an honest but somewhat more relaxed approach. While Vardy recovers from his hernia operation, which went through without hitch, we may as well get used to watching the former-Newcastle United man playing up-front. That is because it appears to Foxes of Leicester that Perez will continue to have the faith of manager Brendan Rodgers.

Foxes of Leicester expects the rest of the team to be the same as the previous EPL outing versus Chelsea. Here’s what the boss said on the centre-forward position in his press conference before the team play Everton:

"On Perez:“Probably his [Perez’s] best position is more central…what I know is that he will score goals. He’s a natural goalscorer. He’s different to Jamie [Vardy].”On Iheanacho:“He’s still a very valuable player for us.”On Barnes in central role?“No.”All quotes via Leicestershire Live"

One other positive update given before the pre-match presser, was the fact that Vardy could return in a fortnight. That means his next match could be against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English top-flight, or at King Power Stadium when Leicester meet Brighton & Hove Albion in the next round of the cup.

Hopefully the former-England man won’t be rushed back though; Foxes fans will dread another Injury reoccurrence as with Ricardo Pereira and Caglar Soyuncu when they returned in the Europa League. It is also clear that the Foxes do not rely on their talisman as heavily these days.
