With only hours remaining of the transfer window, there is a chance that Leicester City could make a quality signing in Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

I know for a fact that many Foxes fans aren’t exactly bowled over by the business, or lack of, by the King Power club this January. Basically nothing, other than a few anticipated sales.

However, while supporters can be forgiven for passion, expectation and loyal benevolence toward Leicester – just think how the owners’ Duty Free company has suffered with revenue for longer than a year.

Yet the chairman is still giving backing to Brendan Rodgers and Recruitment to sign an attacking midfielder.

Transfer gossip is connecting Leicester with a deadline day move for versatile Arsenal player Ainsley Maitland-Niles. In all honesty, the wide defender who can play across midfield isn’t the forward-thinking force Rodgers spoke of – but he is a fine potential utility capture for the Foxes.

Winger Demarai Gray has finally departed Filbert Way after over a year mostly occupying the substitutes bench or sideline as an unwanted peripheral squad member. What a shame that the Blue Army only saw four or five glimpses of footballing genius from the Birmingham-born man, which was far too few moments of inspiration.

Gray’s certainly got himself a great new club, Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. Although it would have been very interesting to see him come up against the Foxes with a Premier League side such as Crystal Palace or a team of that level. Nevertheless, Foxes of Leicester wishes the wingman all the best – until our paths cross once more!
