Leicester’s Europa League squad: who’s in and who’s out
Brendan Rodgers had a potentially tough decision made easier as he chose Leicester City’s Europa League squad. Who is in and who has been left out?
The Foxes’ almost exemplary Europa League Group stage campaign is now being complemented by wonderful English Premier League progress, too. In UEL Group G, Leicester won five and drew only a single match: beating AEK Athens home and away, Zorya Luhansk had the same outcome, then SC Braga were the club that managed to get a draw out of the east Midlands side.
SK Slavia Prague are Brendan Rodgers’ team’s subsequent opponents in the Round of 32. A 1st leg encounter will take place at Eden Arena, Prague on February 18. Rodgers has had to make one alteration to his 23-man roster for the knockouts, with the injured Wes Morgan being replaced by fit again Daniel Amartey.
Europa League Squad:
Kasper Schmeichel, Danny Ward, Eldin Jakupovic; Dan Amartey, Caglar Soyuncu, James Justin, Wesley Fofana, Jonny Evans, Ricardo Pereira, Christian Fuchs, Timothy Castagne; James Maddison, Marc Albrighton, Youri Tielemans, Harvey Barnes, Cengiz Under, Hamza Choudhury, Papy Mendy, Wilfred Ndidi, Dennis Praet; Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho and Ayoze Perez.
Other Leicester City news
Elsewhere around the City sphere, former-Manchester City defender and Sky Sports and Match of the Day pundit Micah Richards believes back-up Leicester attacker Kelechi Iheanacho is “special“. Richards claimed this when talking on MotD following the Nigerian’s goal against Fulham on Wednesday evening. Below is what the former-England international said of Iheanacho:
"“Yeah, he came as a young kid [at Man City] and the first thing I realised about him was how good his touch was. You could fire the ball in and he has great close control and he was left footed.“I knew he was something special, and I want to see him kick onto the next level now.”Via BBC Match of the Day"
